What is Biolustre`? How does it work? To answer these questions and view the claims this product makes, go to http://www.biolustre.com/aboutUs.cfm . However I am a professional who has actually used this product. If you would like my opinion then keep reading.

I like Biolustre`. It works for what I need it to do.

Does it "bring hair back to virgin state"? I don't know. Maybe. If you have suffered breakage from over processed hair, it will not miraculously sprout that broken hair off the end and bring your hair back. The damage has already been done. It does prevent further damage in my opinion.

·         If you have experienced too much breakage and your hair is getting too thin and scraggly, but you don't want to cut it off, you would be a good candidate for Hair Extensions. Hair Extensions would make your hair look thick and healthy again with minimal damage to the hair as it grows out.

Does it "let you do up to 6 chemical processes in one day"? I don't know that either. I have not needed to do 6 chemical processes to anyone in one day. I have, however, had to do chemical processes on clients with questionable hair integrity and had great results. Let me give you an example...

I had a first time client come in who had chemically, and mechanically (flat iron and blow dryer) damaged hair. She had old highlights that were covered up with color and then re-highlighted and low lighted. At the time she had her hair colored, re-highlighted, and low lighted, she went in with only 2 inches of new growth, which meant that all the hair 2" from her head and out (shoulder length hair) had been chemically processed 4 times. And it was not even a pretty color. It was almost a burgundy color in places and just very dull in others, and the blonde was splotchy near the root area where the bleach had leaked out of the foils. And now she wants me to fix it and make her "blonde again".

In order for me to fulfill her desire to be blonde again I would have to use bleach and I would have to overlap the previously processed hair, which meant I would have to do chemical process #5 on her hair. In the past, before Biolustre`, there would be no chance I would attempt this. I would cover everything up with a no ammonia color gloss (go darker), do a deep conditioning treatment, cut off some of her dead ends, sell her protein packs to use on her hair once a week for a couple of months and then tell her to come back then and we would do an elasticity test on her then and see where her hair was. She would then proceed on to the next stylist who would give her what she wanted. But fortunately I had already used Biolustre` on a friend and knew what it was capable of. So we did the Biolustre` treatment first and then I did a heavy foil with bleach and I put a semi permanent color on the rest of the hair to even it out. She experienced NO BREAKAGE and her hair was beautiful and blonde again. She was happy, and I was happy to have a new client.

Does it "leave a shine and softness that won't go away"? I have not experienced this claim. I have not experienced any softness at all, to tell you the truth. The only way I get softness and shine is by doing a Bonacure Repair Treatment afterwards and then using either the Bonacure Sealed Ends,  Biosilk Silk Therapy, or Repair and Shine on the hair before and after I blow dry. All three of these products are leave in treatments that really give your hair the softness and shine you desire. Just use them on a daily basis. They will help protect it from the heat too. I recommend that you do the Bonacure Repair Treatment afterwards anyway, because it gives your hair needed moisture.

Just recently I have discovered that they have some new products that go with the service that I hope will give the shine and softness. I have not used them yet, I just ordered them and am anxiously awaiting to receive my order so I can try it. (2-28-08)

Ok, I've used the new products and I am impressed. (5-26-08) YOu now have a shampoo and conditioner to take home with you and it helps maintain the softness and shine that you recieved after your initial treatment. I LOVE it!

Now, that is what I know about Bilostre`. If you are interested in having this treatment done I recommend that you let a professional do it. The number one reason is because the product sold to the public and to professionals is a different strength. The other reason is it is a major pain to do and could take a really long time without a hair dryer to sit under. Rinsing it out is probably the most difficult step in the process. It takes forever to get all of the product out and it is extremely important that you do.

In the salon this treatment takes me 1-2 hours to do on short to medium length hair that is not very thick. The thicker and the longer the hair, the longer it takes, because it takes longer to harden and longer to rinse out. That is why I charge more for longer hair and for thicker hair, not to mention the extra product that you have to use.

You may ask yourself, "Is it worth $150?". Considering that it last for 6 months, you're only paying $25 per month. Surely, the health of your hair is worth that. Plus you get shampoo and conditioner to take home with you.
